8th Annual Bowden Bowl Bash

After a brief hiatus, the Bowden Bowl Bash was back in business!  Penn State played on December 27th in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College, winning in a nail-biting overtime.  Nana was the second person to attend a BBB in two states.  After the party, she said we had such nice friends.  No matter how old you are, it always feel good to know your mom likes your friends!

The Marusaks came down for a weekend visit so we could watch the Penn State-Purdue game.  Dan graduated from Purdue, so he thought it would be fun to wage a little bet where the loser had to wear the other team's gear.  Good thing Dan is a trooper!  Our friends Mike, Stacey & Matt came over, too.

Kate wore a Penn State jersey for the first half, and a Purdue jersey for the second half.  Since Penn State won (34-9), Dan had to wear the Penn State sweatshirt!

Greg and Anthony had a crazy weekend at the Penn State-Virginia game.  The game did not turn out as he had hoped, and the weather was pretty uncooperative, but it was an adventure!

We met Kate for a fun afternoon while she was visiting Penn State for her grad school decision.  We hit my favorite two bookstores (The Student Book Store and McLanahan's), The Diner, and The Creamery for some ice cream!  When Kate graduated from high school, we had a great rhyme about how Kate graduated in 2008 to go to NC State, and Penn State fits right in with the theme . . . that is all I'm saying!

Bowden Bowl Bash- January 2, 2012

Our 7th Annual Bowden Bowl Bash was the 2012 TicketCity Bowl.  Penn State played Houston, and the game was not pretty.  We had a great turn-out in our new place, and we even had one returning friend from South Carolina!  Greg's friend Kathleen from his days at DNLCC had moved to DC a few years ago, so she made the trip up.  We also had my high school friend Michele (a Penn State alum) for the party.  We had around 35 guests, so next year, Greg will be making a lot of t-shirts!  I spent most of the time in the kitchen, as USC was playing Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl.  While Penn State wasn't able to pull out a victory, the Gamecocks did a great job, winning 11 in 2011!

Bowden Bowl Bash- January 1, 2011

Thankfully, the curse of the FatHead was broken last year!

Our 6th Annual Bowden Bowl Bash once again took place on January 1, 2011.  Since the the event is centered around Penn State's Bowl game, we never quite know when the party will be . . . only that Penn State will make it to a Bowl!!  It was Penn State vs. Florida, so we knew the Gergicks would be a family divided!  Nana came decked out in her Penn State socks, and lots of new folks were t-shirt eligible this year.  Our list of "AABBB," that's At All Bowden Bowl Bashes," stands at Robert, Richard & Ron.  Next year's party will involve a little traveling for some attendees!    

Nathan & Steve were pulling for the Gators.  Robert brought some delicious chili.  Christina & Tara were the proud owners of new BBB t-shirts, but this was Catherine's first year, so she has to wait!

Penn State Volleyball- August 27-28, 2010

With our big family vacation behind us, then a trip to Edisto, and a trip to Charlotte, we couldn't miss the opportunity to have some family fun with the Marusaks and see a little Nittany Lion volleyball!  We arrived Friday just in time to do a shuffle, dropping Daniel and me off to hang out with Debbie, while Greg, the girls, Scott, Trenton & Julia went to see Penn State play UNC, the first of four games.  The team had been undefeated since, I don't know, forever, and they kept that streak alive during the four game series.

On Saturday, we saw the last two games, and Debbie and Kate managed to get several members to put on some Penn State face paint to surprise Greg!  After the game, Sarah, Emily, Julia met the team members, and Emily had the team sign her volleyball.  After that, we headed to Fat Daddy's!
