We celebrated Sarah's birthday a day early at Aunt Chris & Uncle Bill's house. Our day started with a crazy scavenger hunt, courtesy of Emily, for Sarah's present. Then we headed to Zoom Flume Water Park. It was a beautiful day, and we had a blast (but no cameras at the water park)! That evening, we had a birthday dinner for Sarah, and opened lots of presents! We even Skyped with Nana!

Aunt Chris & Uncle Bill- July 29-31, 2011
We had a great weekend with Nana at Aunt Chris & Uncle Bill's house. While we were there, we celebrated Sarah's 12th birthday. She usually has a pool party at Aunt Gene & Bubba's, but we downsized a little this year! The festivities included a Slip "N Slide down the mountain (yes, the instructions specifically say do NOT place it on a hill), and a visit from Ashley and her beautiful horse.

The pool and the crowd may have been smaller, but the fun was super-sized!
Sarah was not as thrilled as we were about the Birthday Girl hat.
Emily was in charge of the decorations, and she did a super job!
Daniel loved to watch the "Wipe-Out" video of everyone on the Slip 'N Slide. Perhaps we'll get the video posted on Camp Bowden one day!
Ashley brought her horse over for a visit. Daniel wasn't a huge fan. He would not pet the horse.

Fun in the ATL! July 10-12, 2010
We had the best girls' weekend ever in Atlanta with Debbie and Julia. We planned the trip with the express purpose of hitting the American Girl store, but it morphed into a Top Chef culinary tour as well! Sarah & Emily loved having uninterrupted time with their cousin Julia (and their three dolls), and I loved the chance to hang out with Debbie! We arrived Friday, just in the nick of time for our reservations at Kevin Gillespie's delicious Woodfire Grill. Julia and Emily had their first tasting menu. We pity the boys they date. The girls loved everything, but Debbie and I decided not to tell them what sweetbreads really are. Sarah had the salmon, and she loved it. After some swim time, we turned in for the night. The next morning, we headed to the American Girl store. We picked up just a few things for the girls, and had the cutest birthday party ever for Julia (it was so worth the wait!). Our next stop was Centennial park, where the girls played in the park with approximately eight million people. We dined at Richard Blais' flip burger boutique, where the onion rings were divine and the shakes were out of this world! My steak tartare burger was pretty awesome, too. On Monday, we had a leisurely breakfast, and went our separate ways, already talking about out next girls' weekend!

Aunt Gene & Bubba's Pool
On Sunday, July 12th, we packed up and headed to Aunt Gene & Bubba's pool. While we were there, we decided to take a picture for Sarah's 10th birthday invitation. Every year Richard (Bubba) and Gene graciously open their pool (and home) to a huge crowd of people for Sarah's party. As a child, I spent countless hours in this very pool, so it is fun to have my own children play there, too.
We had a fun day playing, and we were happy to be joined by Nana, Joanna (Gene & Richard's daughter), Michael & Lincoln. Perhaps we can get Lincoln and Daniel in matching swimsuits to be aspiring synchronized swimmers in a few years!
