D Meets d

Daniel and Daniel finally met on June 12th! Daniel (Big D) told me not to use this picture, but alas, it is super cute, and I can not help myself. It is their first meeting! In the other pictures, Daniel (Little d) is in is jammies. We can't have that all across the world wide web. We had a great weekend in Tennessee, and pictures will be coming soon!

Big Sisters

We headed to Nashville just after the girls finished school. Greg was attending a conference, and we thought we'd tag along for an adventure.
Sarah had fun putting her headband on Daniel, and Emily always loves holding him.

Colorado Comes to Charleston!

After almost 9 long years, the Consbruck Clan returned to Charleston for a visit. It was wonderful to see them again. Two years ago, we had made a trip to Colorado, where they met Emily and we met Kristina, but now everyone could meet Daniel. We had an exciting adventure on our first day together. While Dave payed golf (or tried between storms) and Greg was at work, all the girls and Daniel went to lunch and to the mall, where Emily mustered up her courage and pierced her ears. This was her second attempt, and she managed to get both done, with me on one side and Patti on the other. Kailee, Kristina and Sarah cheered her on. She was a trooper, and wants everyone to know she didn't even cry.
On Friday, we all met downtown for a little exploration of the College of Charleston. I, of course, am encouraging Kailee to attend in just two short years. We walked around campus and went to see the new arena. Dave took Kristina, Sarah and Emily down to the court, as Patti and I watched in fear as they hung on the rim of one of the nets that had been lowered and ran around the court. Thankfully, no one threw us out!

Our next stop was meeting Greg for lunch at the barbeque place that is two guy's names . . . one of which I believe is Nick. I can never remember the names. So while we were eating, who pops in, but Daniel Murphy (who will be attending CofC in the Fall)! I was thrilled, as I needed his picture with my Daniel for the Book of Daniels. Where is the picture, you ask? I do not know. I do not know what happened. My camera must not have taken it. How sad. We'll have to get another one soon!
After lunch and some transportation juggles, Kristina came to our house to play with the girls while Patti & Dave visited with some other friends. They had a grand time playing outside with chalk and the Foamer in the driveway until the mosquitos descended.
Throughout the visit, Kristina loved Daniel. The little guy is used to a lot of attention from little girls, so this was not unusual for him. She kept telling me she was going to sneak in and take him in the middle of the night. She had quite a plan, so each morning I checked to make sure he was still in his crib!
Once Patti and Dave returned, Sarah and Patti spend some quality Godmother time together putting a puzzle together. On Saturday, we met up with them at their old neighbor's house where the three little girls swam their hearts out. It was a great visit, and I was sad to see them go.

Snoozy Baby

What Does a Horse Say?

Daniel is trying hard to figure out how to crawl. He can scoot a tiny bit on his belly, and roll anywhere he pleases, but he wants to move more and more each day! Soon he'll put the pieces together and life will never be the same!

Granny Gayle sent Daniel an adorable outfit that asks what a horse says. On the back, it shows!

Perler Bead Fun

We love a good craft at Camp Bowden. Perler beads are one of the favorites. The other day, Sarah H. came over to play, and the three girls had a great time creating presents for their teachers. Meanwhile, Daniel enjoyed a little nap.

Measuring Day: May 30, 2009

We have a Bowden family tradition of measuring the girls every year on May 30th on the wall by the garage door in the kitchen. Greg marks their height on the wall and measures how tall they are, and we compare each with their previous height. We had a lengthy discussion about Daniel's participation (when he should start). I really wanted him to get measured, but it didn't quite work so well. The girls tried to hold him up, but he was quite the wiggle worm! In the end, we worked it out, and it was an adventure trying! He loves to stand, but when held against the wall, he doesn't like it nearly as much! He had just been to the doctor and was measured at 27 inches (and just shy of 20 pounds), so we were curious to see how close we came to that number.

After all of the marks were made, we discovered Emily is 54 1/8 inches (a bit more than 3 inches taller than last year). Sarah is 50 3/16 inches (right about 3 inches taller), and Daniel is 26 3/4 inches tall. Now we have to wait another year to see how much they've grown!
