Bowden Bowl Bash- January 2, 2012

Our 7th Annual Bowden Bowl Bash was the 2012 TicketCity Bowl.  Penn State played Houston, and the game was not pretty.  We had a great turn-out in our new place, and we even had one returning friend from South Carolina!  Greg's friend Kathleen from his days at DNLCC had moved to DC a few years ago, so she made the trip up.  We also had my high school friend Michele (a Penn State alum) for the party.  We had around 35 guests, so next year, Greg will be making a lot of t-shirts!  I spent most of the time in the kitchen, as USC was playing Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl.  While Penn State wasn't able to pull out a victory, the Gamecocks did a great job, winning 11 in 2011!

Adam & Chuck- January 1, 2012

Daniel helps Chuck open his Christmas present
On New Years Day, we had a fun visit from my beloved nephew Adam and Chuck.  They are only about an hour and a half away, so we hope to see them more often in the new year!

TSP! December 28-31, 2011

In one of my less sane moments, I suggested we have a Traveling Slumber Party for Emily's 11th birthday.  We arranged to meet two of her friends in North Carolina at Aunt Debbie's house, then came to Camp Bowden for two nights, then went back to Aunt Debbie's for one last night of party time.  It was a grand time, and we made cute photo books for the girls.  You can see the book here.

Christmas Eve- December 24, 2011

Christmas Eve brought all of the usual activities.  We had cookies to decorate, stockings to hang, and It's a Wonderful Life to watch!

Christmas Jammies- December 24, 2011

Every year, Papa gives Sarah, Emily & Daniel Christmas pajamas since he isn't with them on Christmas morning.  He left them for the kids when he visited in September, and I (thankfully) managed to keep up with them.  They opened them Christmas Eve morning.

Gingerbread Houses- December 23, 2011

We had Caroline over to decorate gingerbread houses.  The girls had a fabulous time, and most of the candy actually made it on to the houses!

Emily is 11! December 23, 2011

We just had a family party on Emily's birthday, as her big party was the upcoming "Traveling Slumber Party."  Nana was with us, making the day extra special.  Emily picked Red Robin for her birthday dinner (who can resist the tower of onion rings?), and we had some yummy cake.

Emily's Concert- December 22, 2011

Emily had her oboe concert and chorus concert on the same day (the last day of school before Christmas break)!  Since there was not an evening concert, I am confident we exceeded the maximum capacity of the Roland Park multipurpose room.  It was packed!  Emily did a fantastic job, and we were so proud!  Nana was even here for the concert, thankfully.

Christmas Program- December 18, 2011

St. Pius put on a very cute Christmas program, Stable Manners.  Emily was Cecil the Sheep , and Sarah was Claude the Camel.

Christmas Crafts & RG3- December 16, 2011

The girls had a long list of people to make crafts for this Christmas, so they made button wreaths, gingerbread place mats, and tree bookmarks.

And Daniel watched RG3!

Knit Your Bit- December 11, 2011

Sarah knitted a hat for "Knit Your Bit," which gives the hats to the homeless.  Her hat was beautiful, and quite large, so hopefully it kept the head of a large man quite warm!

Decorating the Tree (Day 1)- December 10, 2011

While some families can buy, put up, light and decorate the tree in one day, we can not.  First of all, where is the fun in that?  It must be incredibly stressful.  Second, we just have way too many ornaments for that foolishness.  It takes us most of the Advent season, and even then, we never quite get all of the ornaments on the tree.  Even Caroline joined in on the fun!
